The City of Angels

City of Angels is a subdued movie, but it does not shy away from difficult themes. It examines the spiritual/material duality of the world. It also examines the nature of sacrifice.

This museum provides enriching educational programming that explores the art, history and cultures of African Americans. The campus has three exhibition galleries as well as a theater, sculpture court, and conference center.

Black American Portraits, a curated exhibition from the museum’s permanent collection, reframes portraiture to center Black subjects, sitters, and spaces. The exhibition also challenges a culture of visual demonization that vilifies Blackness through a celebration of love, abundance and family.
